Institutional Membership in the Fulbright Association is open to colleges and universities, international education organizations, embassies, and other entities that support the Fulbright Program and its ideal of mutual understanding between the people of the United States of America and those of other nations.

Institutional Membership entitles institutions to special recognition as supporters of the Fulbright Program and of international education and to many benefits. It enables institutional representatives to attend all Association programs and to receive special invitations and discounts. Institutional Members also receive a subscription to the Association's newsletter and to periodic mailings on policy issues concerning the Fulbright Program and international educational and cultural exchange. The annual Institutional Membership fee is $500.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION [Return to top]
Institutional Members receive special recognition in the Association's print and online materials, highlighting their support for Fulbright exchanges, international education, and the work of the Fulbright Association.

  • Fulbright Association Web Site. Receiving over 900,000 page views from more than 150 countries in 2006, the Association's web site at www.fulbright.org is a destination for prospective students from around the world seeking information on undergraduate and graduate study opportunities in the United States, as well as by Fulbright alumni and friends seeking information on international education and other Fulbright Program news. Top search terms for finding the site include: Fulbright; study abroad; scholarship; and grants.
  • The Fulbrighters' Newsletter. With a print circulation of 7,500 Fulbright alumni in the United States and a global electronic circulation to the U.S. Department of State and its Posts and 50 Fulbright Commissions, the newsletter puts the names of Institutional Members in front of students, professors, advisors, and other decision makers interested in studying and/or teaching at institutions of higher education in the U.S.
  • J. William Fulbright Prize for International Understanding. Awarded to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions toward bringing peoples, cultures, or nations to greater understanding of others, the Fulbright Prize is a high profile, international event. Three of our previous laureates-Nelson Mandela, Jimmy Carter, and Kofi Annan-were selected as Fulbright Prize laureates before they were selected for the Nobel Peace Prize. Institutional Members are recognized in the event invitation sent to national and international leaders, decision makers, and other dignitaries, as well as Fulbright alumni, State Department personnel, university presidents, and the diplomatic corps; the program; and a special edition newsletter distributed worldwide and available online.
