Jane L. Anderson, CAE As executive director of the Fulbright Association, Jane L. Anderson has worked with Fulbright alumni volunteers throughout the world and provided professional leadership in launching the J. William Fulbright Prize for International Understanding (1993), the Fulbright Association Fund for the 21st Century (1996), the Fulbright Lifetime Achievement Medal Dinners (2000), the Selma Jeanne Cohen Fund for International Scholarship on Dance (2000), the Fulbright Association's inaugural international conference in Athens, Greece (2004), and the partnership with the U.S. Department of State to develop materials on global best practices for Fulbright alumni organizations and technical assistance resources on alumni organization development (2005). Before joining the Association in 1990, she was assistant director of Lutheran Resources Commission, Washington, D.C. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Michigan, Ms. Anderson has undergraduate degrees in French and in journalism and a master's degree in linguistics. She studied in France on a University of Michigan undergraduate program. In June 2003 she earned the Certified Association Executive Designation from the American Society of Association Executives. Ms. Anderson currently serves as a member of the CEO Community of the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives Network. Her writing has been published in the Miami Herald, the Chicago Sun Times, and in Knight-Ridder newspapers.
Mr. Alec Jeffries Alec Jeffries joined the Fulbright Association in March 2008 as director of chapter relations after working for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as a corporate analyst. Prior to his years with the Chamber of Commerce, he lobbied the Colorado State Legislature on behalf of institutions of higher education. In 2004, Mr. Jeffries was trained by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on international conflict resolution and became an international election monitor during the highly contested Presidential elections in Ukraine. Mr. Jeffries has volunteered in orphanages in Kampala, Uganda and met with both Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni during his time in east Africa. He is a graduate of Colorado State University and is currently completing his MBA in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Naomi Parekh Naomi Parekh joined the Fulbright Association in September 2007 as director, membership development. As a U.S. Fulbright fellow (Jamaica 2005), Ms. Parekh did independent research at a group home for HIV positive children and developed guidelines for hurricane disaster relief. Ms. Parekh received her associate in arts degree from Simon's Rock College of Bard and her bachelors in arts degree from Smith College, where she majored in anthropology and cultural health. During her senior year, Ms. Parekh enrolled in a program on traditional Chinese medicine and culture at the Yunnan Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital in Kunming, Yunnan, People's Republic of China. Ms. Parekh has spent over 18 years as an active volunteer for "A Celebration of Life," a charity in her hometown of Lowell, Massachusetts, which raises funds to support abandoned children in areas of the Caribbean, Latin America, and Africa.
Ms. Noelle Said Noelle Said joined the Fulbright Association as the Program Assistant in February 2008 after graduating from the University of Southern California and interning for several months at the International Women's Forum in Washington, DC. She graduated with a degree in International Relations and minor in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies. She spent a semester in Cairo, Egypt studying Arab politics and history, and decided to extend her trip through the following semester. She spent spring, 2006 in Tunisia exclusively learning conversational Arabic at the Habib Bourghiba Language Institute in Tunis. In 2002 and 2003, Noelle spent several months submerged in Mexican culture and language and became fluent in Spanish.
